![]() ![]() Two words about the pronouns: Ignore them. I spent several days getting to where the story really kicks into gear after the halfway point, and then just hours getting to the final page. This extended set-up provides crucial information on the characters and their motivations, but it just seems to take forever to get through. So … why 4 stars? Mostly because I spent the first half of the book wondering just where it was going. ![]() The characters are interesting and fleshed out, and while the basic premise of revenge is as old as time, the details of the story are both imaginative and thought-provoking and related in prose that is crisp and engaging. Clarke - this first book of the Imperial Radch series is space opera the way I like it: a story that feels small and intimate but which ends up illuminating the wider universe. The winner of all the big Sci-Fi literary awards - Hugo, Nebula, and Arthur C. ![]()
